Caution

As a result of a complaint, the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee decided to caution Dr. Walter Heidary as follows:

• Dr. Heidary must carefully review pre-operative x-rays and reports to assist him in determining the level of case complexity. Complex implant cases should be referred to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, periodontist or a dentist with advanced surgical training and extensive experience. 

• If a nerve injury following dental surgery fails to resolve promptly, Dr. Heidary must provide a timely referral to an oral surgeon for treatment to provide the patient the best chance of a favourable outcome.

A hands-on, one-on-one course in Implant Dentistry with a focus on both prosthetic and surgical phases of implant treatment, including:
o Diagnosis and treatment planning;
o Case selection;
o Prosthetic design;
o Occlusal considerations;
o Interdisciplinary communication, when to refer to a specialist and associated referral protocols;
o Tissue augmentation;
o Disclosure of adverse events;
o Understanding compromised treatment;
o A review of the College’s Guideline “Educational Requirements & Professional Responsibilities for Implant Dentistry”; and
o An evaluative component.
Required Practice Monitoring - Office Visits 
Practice to be monitored for 24 months following completion of course in implant dentistry.
